January 11, 2016 - Meet Some Authors

Hi, it’s Christina –

Good Morning! It's a new year, so I thought I’d try something new. During the past few years, while I have been on this writer’s journey, I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with some incredible authors. I would like to introduce you to some of them on Monday's blog posts.

Last week, when I featured Lisabeth Scott, Ron Shaw and Susan Ricci’s new releases, you got a little taste of what I had in mind. The response was good, so I think I’ll continue along the same lines. I will try to feature authors across the genres and age groups, so I don’t bore you to death with only my favorite – romance.

This idea is still a thought in progress, so I’m not sure exactly how I’m going to do this, or if I’ll necessarily follow the same template every week. Some weeks I may feature one genre with several authors, some weeks I may feature one author who has multiple releases, some weeks I may feature new releases. I think I’ll just go with how the mood strikes me on that given morning.

However, feedback from you would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have a particular author you would like featured or if you would like to be featured (yes, believe it or not, I do have quite a few authors who follow my blog) let me know, and I’ll see what I can do.

Last week was easy because I happened to have three friends who had new releases. This week is a little more difficult; not for lack of quality material I assure you, just my indecisiveness at who to feature. I think, as a kick off, I’ll give you a smattering across the board, and I will chose folks who I have never mentioned to you before. Here goes:

First up – K. Lamb. K, a San Francisco gal, has a series of early reader books called The Dani P Mystery Series. K is an advocate for early literacy and spend time in classrooms reading to children. Having a daughter Dani myself, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give my Dani, though considerably older than K’s target market of 6 – 10 year olds, one of the books as a gift. It was a big hit.

“Dani shivers in the cold night air as her heart races and butterflies dance in her stomach. This is her big moment. She is out to prove to everyone that age doesn't matter when it comes to solving mysteries. With the help of her best friend, Chloe Marshall, Dani is determined to uncover the secrets within the haunted walls of the house on the hill. With a big gulp, she steps forward. There is no turning back now.”

“After solving her first big case, Dani is famous in her small town and has earned the title of being the best almost-eight-year-old detective in the world. However, even she isn't prepared for the surprise that awaits her when Sheriff Spinelli summons her to the Shady Hollow courthouse.

Now it is up to her to prove to Sheriff Spinelli that she can keep the citizens of Shady Hollow safe. Just one problem: How does an almost-eight-year-old detective stop a thief? With the help of her best friend, Chloe Marshall, she'll have to figure it out soon before the local mall becomes the next target!”

“When Nellie Wilson—the school bully—announces that the Rocking Horse Ranch is hosting a horse show, Chloe can't wait to compete. However, when she is mysteriously hurt while out riding, Dani suspects foul play! Is someone trying to keep Chloe from entering the competition? With the help of her friend, Ricky Ramirez, Dani sets out to discover the truth behind the dastardly deed.”

Your reading needs fall in a little bit older category? How about coming of age stories with a Greek Mythological twist? Then you need to check out KK Allen.

“After Katrina Summer’s mother dies a mysterious death, she is hurtled into life at Apollo Beach where she learns the legends of her Ancient Greek ancestors. As her visions become reality fear turns to terror as powerful forces threaten the lives of those around her. Amidst the turmoil, Kat meets neighbor, Alec Stone, who becomes her sole solace in an evocative world of mythological enchantment and evil prophecies that lurk around every corner ...”

“Katrina Summer finally comes to terms with her enchanted skin as she is challenged with an evil that threatens the Solstice settlement of Apollo Beach...

At a private gathering on Summer Island, Kat meets an entire secret society of Enchanters–and other mythological descendants of a different breed. The gorgeous Valli sisters appear, forcing Kat to take a deeper look into her new existence. And when Arabella, the youngest of the sisters, befriends her, Kat learns the most disturbing Summer family secret of all... To escape the lurking dangers of the Equinox, which brings outrage and heartbreak to the entire town, Kat accepts a job at the Island Grille where her handsome, yet brooding co-worker, Johnny, makes life even more challenging. Meanwhile, Kat struggles between her lingering and undeniable attraction for Alec, the secrets that she is forced to keep from him, and a betrayal that sends them on separate paths.”

“Winter in Apollo Beach is anything but a wonderland for Kat and her friends as their Enchanted community comes face to face with Erebus and his latest act of evil that strikes close to the heart. There's no turning back. Erebus has his sights set on Kat and using her to access the mysterious energy source. Kat will do anything to keep her friends and family safe … even if it means surrendering herself to the God of Darkness. Meanwhile, Kat is finally picking up the pieces of her broken heart and moving on until all goes awry at the Arctic Winter Masquerade Ball. Everything she's worked for is shattered when she lands in the arms of someone who will divert her path … and heart … once again.”

Now that the kids are taken care of, how about you? Need some romance, mystery, suspense? Then Tamara Ferguson is the gal for you.

“Separated by circumstances fifteen years earlier, Jake Loughlin and Danielle Reardon are fatefully reunited at Dragonfly Pointe. But the mysterious Dragonfly Pointe has a history of tragedy. An unsolved brutal assault and murder of a six-year old girl over twenty years before has remained unsolved.

A successful entrepreneur, Jake has hidden his status as a special investigator for the FBI. As owner of the Dragonfly Pointe Inn, Jake has returned to restore and renovate the abandoned property. Unofficially, he's investigating the theory that a ring of human traffickers is operating in the area. With three to five kidnappings occurring at the end of each year, over the states of Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, Jake can trace a pattern going back as far as thirty-five years, and there could be a connection to the death of the little girl at Dragonfly Pointe twenty-two years earlier.

Grieving after the death of her grandmother several months before, Danielle has finally returned to Crystal Rock. A former model and vocalist for a band, Danielle escaped her chaotic life as a celebrity when her boyfriend died of a drug overdose. After obtaining her horticulture degree, she opened a successful landscape business in New York.

When Jake and Danielle finally meet again, it's magic.”

A woman who's afraid to trust.

Successful designer, Penny Wentworth has arrived from New York to take charge of the wedding flowers for the new owners of the Dragonfly Pointe Inn. As a single parent of a severely autistic and mentally impaired son, she has no romantic illusions; her experience with an abusive husband has left her wary of relationships.

A man who's afraid to love.

Haunted by his past since discovering a six-year old girl brutally murdered at Dragonfly Pointe over twenty-two years before, Sam had intentionally avoided returning home. But after resigning from his job as a homicide detective in New Orleans when his marriage fell apart, Sam is now the chief of police in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin.

An undying passion that's endured throughout the years.

Penny's escort for the wedding, Sam had once been the object of every single one of her teenage fantasies. Despite his overwhelming attraction to Penny as a teenager, Sam had deliberately kept his distance because of their age difference. But from the moment Sam meets Penny again, he realizes she's always been the only woman for him.”

“Kate Callahan has always known that, someday, she’d run the family business. So men have always been merely a distraction for Kate; she just doesn’t have time for love. Until fate steps in by way of a prophecy foretold, years ago, by a friend who’d been blessed with a remarkable gift. Kate has been warned that, one day, she’ll be kissed by fate. And love will happen with that unforgettable kiss.

Michael Murphy already has his life mapped out. After graduating with his degree in Architecture, he’ll be working at a prestigious firm in Chicago. When he arrives in the town of Crystal Rock to serve as an intern at Callahan Construction, the last thing he expects is his instant attraction to lovely crew boss, Kate Callahan.

Kate’s immediately drawn to Murphy, too. And sparks fly when they unite in an attempt to discover the identity of the thief who’s been stealing construction materials from her family’s company. But how could a long-term relationship between them ever survive? They’re both young, with different dreams and goals. So even after their unforgettable kiss, Kate lets Murphy go.

Six years later, Kate’s finally admitted her mistake; she’s just never been able to forget that kiss. Devastated when she learns that Michael Murphy’s become engaged, Kate comes up with a plan to try to win him back. But will she be too late?”
